Metal Oxide/Pt Based Nanocomposites as Electrocatalysts for Oxygen Reduction Reaction

چکیده مقاله:

Fuel cell is a promising choice for clean energy because of its eco-friendly system, high energy conversion efficiency and high power density. Recently, much of the research work is focused on the system of combining metal oxides to increase the durability and surface area and to reduce the cost. In this study, among the various fabrication methods, we used the precipitation method to synthesis composites Pt/C/SnO2/NiOusing NaBH4 as a reducing agent. XRD and SEM characterizations were carried out to determine the particle size and distribution of the catalysts. Cyclic voltammetry were recorded to evaluate Oxygen Reduction Reaction (ORR). SEM images revealed that Pt/C and metal oxide nanoparticles were uniformly dispersed in the composite catalyst architecture with smaller particle size for composite/Pt/C catalyst compared to Pt/C catalysts. XRD patterns of samples showed peaks characteristic of metal Pt and of rutile and cubic phases for SnO2 and NiO, respectively. The onset potentials for ORR on Pt/C and Pt/C/SnO2/NiO catalysts are 0.28 and 0.21 V, respectively, confirming that later has higher activities than Pt/C. The onset potential for oxygen reduction is shifted to more positive potential for binary metal oxides modified compared to Pt/C.

Metal corroles as electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction.

The rotating ring disk electrode method has been used to study O2 electroreduction with metal corroles. Catalysis begins at potentials that are 0.5-0.7 V more positive than the expected potential of the M(III/II) couple based on studies in non-aqueous solutions. The path of O2 reduction depends on the nature of the metal ion. Cobalt corroles promote O2 reduction to H2O2. Iron corroles catalyse ...

Development of ruthenium-based bimetallic electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction

Ruthenium-based bimetallic electrocatalysts with non-noble metals such as Ti, Cr, Fe, Co and Pb were synthesized on a porous carbon support sing a chelation process. Rotating ring disk electrode measurements indicated that RuFeNx/C showed the catalytic activity and selectivity toward he four-electron reduction of oxygen to water comparable to those of the conventional Pt/C catalysts. The perfor...

Heteroatoms ternary-doped porous carbons derived from MOFs as metal-free electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction

The nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and sulphur (S) ternary-doped metal-free porous carbon materials have been successfully synthesized using MOFs as templates (denoted as NPS-C-MOF-5) for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) for the first time. The influences of porous carbons from carbonizing different MOFs and carbonization temperature on ORR have been systematically investigated. Due to the synergi...
